Kalamunda Rangers offer teams in Machine Pitch (League Ages 7-10), Little League (League Ages 9-12), Intermediate League (U14), Junior League (Ages U15), Junior Girls League (13 to 15), Senior League (Ages U17), and our Adult grades, including a Women’s team (ages 15+).

The availability and number of teams offered in each competition depends on registration numbers.  Ages are calculated as at 31 August following the completion of the current summer season. Training is at Maida Vale Reserve and games are played in a home-and-away fixture throughout the Perth metropolitan area.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

Kalamunda Rangers places teams in the Southern Hills and Central Firebirds Little League competitions to allow players and families to choose the best development option for their child. The includes dual registrations into Teeball and Little League, Teeball and Machine Pitch and competitions.

Older players can dual into the older grade to gain extra development in their pitching and catching skills.

In addition to the regular competition, all players have the opportunity to try out for Charter representative teams in the Swan Hills Aces to participate in the Junior Baseball State Championships across the Easter long weekend.

Players are also encouraged to try out for Youth/Girls/Women’s Championships, World Cup, Little League Girls Nationals and Barclay Cup teams to give themselves further experience and development in the sport.

WHAT’S INVOLVED

In addition to supporting your team by attending training and games and helping with the general setup/packup required, additional duties may be required.  Parent/player help is vital to enable all our teams and our Club to run efficiently and sharing the load helps everyone.  Help throughout the season includes, but not limited to, Coach, Team Manager, Scorer, Umpires, Base Coaches as well as assisting in the Canteen or at the Bar (Adult games/training only) at Home Games.

LEAGUES AVAILABLE

MACHINE PITCH – Machine Pitch is a great introduction for younger players to the sport of baseball and softball with players hitting a moving ball, and the Catcher takes on the more traditional role on the diamond. Games are played on a Saturday morning, before Teeball games to allow players to do both! Players can play Machine Pitch from 6 years of age, born between January and August, to 10 years, born between September and December (League Age 7 to 10).

Players who qualify for both Machine Pitch and Little League, are able to play both Machine Pitch and Little League if they wish (League age 9 and 10). As the age groups for Machine Pitch and Teeball overlap in our club, players are permitted to participate in both and are strongly encouraged to do so to gain more game experience. Players also have the opportunity to try out for the Club team attending the Little League WA State Championships competition held over the Easter long weekend.

Machine Pitch games are 1 hour long on a 60-ft diamond.

LITTLE LEAGUE – Little League is the next step up from Machine Pitch is the first competitive League for players where the Pitcher takes on a traditional role, although the game still has some modified rules to help players learn the game. It is not necessary for players to have played any diamond sports to try Little League.  Games are played on a Monday night within the Southern Hills Charter competition, currently made up of teams from Roleystone, Gosnells and Harrisdale, or Saturday mornings within the Centrals Charter. As the age groups for Little League, Machine Pitch and Teeball overlap in our club, players are permitted to participate in more than one competition, and are strongly encouraged to do so, to gain more game experience.

Little League games are 1½  hours long on a 60-ft diamond

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE – Intermediate League games introduce the full rules of baseball and are played on a 70ft diamond. Intermediate League has exhibition rounds -same as Little League to develop newer players to the age group, there is no previous experience required to play Intermediate League.
